What's In My Travel Bag (Paris Edition)

Hi loves!

I thought I'd do a fun blog today because I've started to get super excited about the little Paris weekend get-away I'm going on in two weeks with Jack, so here is what I've packed/ will be packing in my backpack!

My backpack is from Topshop, it was originally £38.50 but with my UniDays app (student discount) it was £34 and I am OBSESSED with it. I only got it recently but I love it. It's black leather and I believe they had a white one as well online but I couldn't see it in store. It's cute, on trend with the backpack trend that seems to be happening this summer and it fits loads in which is great for me because obviously I have to carry a little more than your average person! Gold hard wear, two straps on the back and one little one on the top for easy holding.

In my bag I've got: (left to right)
* FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 Polaroid camera in the pastel yellow colour. I got this a few months ago and I absolutely love it, I'm super excited to use it to take pictures around Paris because it's literally the perfect way to save memories, I prefer this over my phone or a digital camera any day!

* My purse is a brown leather vintage purse that I got from a vintage fair a few months ago.

* I got my sunglasses from ROMWE, they're black and white, thick rimmed. On the black rims they say 'Cross My Heart, Hope To Die, Stick A Needle In My Eye'. They're super different and I'm obsessed with them! (they suit round faces which is fab as well)

*Obviously my Ted Baker body spray is an essential however I do have a mini travel size one that I got for boots specifically for travelling.

*My orange purse is from H&M for about £4.99 and I just carry all of my coins and loose change in there to stop my purse getting to a point where it won't close!

*I take my portable charger everywhere and although I'm taking my phone charger AND the seats we have on the train has plug sockets anyway, I'm being extra safe and taking this. It'll give your phone about 4 full charges before it runs out, I've forgotten the brand that it is but I saw it in VelvetGhost's 'What's In My Bag' video on YouTube so go check that out if you want the brand.

*Plasters! Not just in case we get blisters but sometimes my fingers decide they want to try and kill me from blood loss when I test my sugar and don't stop bleeding. These have proven useful more than once!

*iPod obviously. It's an iPod touch, 8GB I think (I could be embarrassingly wrong, I don't know these things) with my RED Beats by Dre headphones. I love them, they're the best headphones I've ever had and they really don't get tangled.

*My Insulin pens! Obviously I need these with me at all times although I will be taking one back-up of both pens in my luggage.

*Needle heads to go along with my pens. I always only carry enough for the day in my handbag but I'll be taking spares in my luggage.

*My faaaaave chewing gum of all time! It's the EXTRA BubbleMint and it is soooo good! Makes your breath smell like a candy store (and it's sugar free!)

*Passport, CHECK!

*Blood Testing kit, it has my meter, my finger prick, spare lancets and testing strips.

* Some Ibruprophen because you never know if there are gonna be some screaming kids on your train and when you're gonna be on a train for around 9 hours you'll need something to numb the pain!

*Bourjois ColourBurst lipstick in 'Orange Punch' for a little bit of colour! I love this colour, it's been my summer staple since it came out last summer.

Thanks for reading, loves.
I'll definitely be doing a blog post on Paris when I get home but I'm not going until the 4th so you've got that to look forward to!

What are your travelling essentials?
I think I'll do 'Travelling Essentials (shower, make-up and skincare)' next week!

We've Moved!

Hi loves!

This is gonna be such a quick post but it's just to explain the move!

So I started this blog on blog.spot because at the beginning it was more of a diary. As I've been doing this for almost 6 months now, I want it to be on a much more popular blog platform and I'm trying to get it more recognised/ more people reading it simply because this is what I want to do when I've finished university. I want to be a journalist and I feel as though having this blog is a great way of showing off my writing talents!

Blog.spot is a great platform to start on but now I'm getting more serious about this blog, I needed a site that helped me see the views, where my readers come from, all of that admin kind of stuff.

It was a long awaited clean up/ move to be fair and I feel much happier with my blog now that that has all been done!

I hope your move was smooth, I did my best although some pictures from some posts did get lost along the way but that's okay!

Enjoy the new web design, lovelies!

New blog post coming up on Monday next week, I'm between either a shoe collection OR a Diabetes in the summer post. It'll be a surprise!

Samples Review! M.A.C, Kiehls & Clinique!

Hi loves,

I went shopping a few days ago and got a few samples from various companies that I've been trying out and LOVE. I'm not usually one to try samples because it just makes me want things I probably don't need but there's one or two products that I've tried out and have decided I simply can't live without.
Okay, to start off with, I bought the Clinique bottom lash mascara a few days ago ( Which I am OBSESSED with!) and with my purchase I got a wee Clinique 'Summer' gift bag.

I just love the little bag that it all came in! Pink, Orange, Purple and Yellow all go so well together! In it you get all sample sizes of Clinique '7 Day Scrum Cream Rinse Off', Clinique 'Deep Comfort Body Butter', Clinique 'Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion +', Clinique 'Happy' perfume and finally, my personal favourite and the product I will be buying in full size, Clinique 'Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser'. I'm not super sure if this deal happens when you order online from Debenhams but I do know that it's still going on in Debenhams stores with one or more purchase of any skincare, makeup or fragrance.

I'm obsessed with the rinse off foaming cleanser, I use it to wash my face and make it super clean before I do my make-up in my morning shower but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use it as a make-up remover but hey, who's to say you have to use things as the product packaging say to?! There are loads of different ways to use your make-up or every day products. For instance, if you want to create a lip colour that matches your eyeshadow if you're creating a costume make-up look, mix some of the eyeshadow you used on your eyes with some vaseline and it'll turn into a lipstain.

I have used the moistursing lotion before but I prefer the gel formula, it's better for dry skin in the winter.
The next sample I got was from MAC and it's the M.A.C Prep + Prime 'Skin Base Visage'. I got it with some purchases I made about a month ago and I'd never used it before. I'd used the BENEFIT primer and one from GOSH cosmetics and both had broke me out before so I was a little wary of trying it out. With it becoming summer though, I wanted to give it a shot because yep, I still wear my full face make-up in the summer and I was super surprised! It hasn't broke me out, it made my skin really nice and smooth after every application and even better, it keeps my make-up on all day. The weather has been quite humid at the moment which means it's cool outside, but the second you go inside, you sweat. Or I do. I'm not ashamed! I 100% love this and I have also ordered a full size bottle of this. It's not overly pricey, I mean it's more than the GOSH Cosmetics primer but it's fabulous and I love it.

Last but not least I got some KIEHL'S samples when I bought their Midtnight Recovery Serum to help my problem skin. I haven't had a chance to try any of them yet and I've given two of them to my mum but I kept the KIEHL'S 'Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution' because after my skin flared up so badly, I've been left with a few dark scars from a few hardcore spots so I'm super excited to see if this will help with the scarring. I'm not entirely sure of the pricing of these things but I've linked the KIEHL'S online store at the end!

Short but sweet I find!

I hope you enjoyed it, loves!

April/ May Favourites!

Hellooooo,

It's favourites time! I'm doing a combined one because I feel you deserve it and I have quite a few.

I'll just jump right in because who's really interested in all the jabbering I do?

To start!

Make-up:
April/May were difficult months in terms of skin for me, I had a lot of deadlines due and I finished my first year of University (woo!) so I had a lot of stress spots creep up on me. In one sense I wanted to shove a bag over my head and use the highest coverage foundation I have but I held off and gave my skin a break.
My favourite combination of skin stuff these two months has definitely been MAC Face & Body foundation (in N1), MAC Select Cover-Up concealer (NW15), Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer (Ivory 010) and to keep my skin matte, I've been really enjoying the Soap & Glory 'One Heck Of A Blot' translucent powder.
MAC products are not cheap, let me just throw that out there. They're a treat. I'm a bit of a make-up enthusiast and the things that I work with I try and use the best quality I can get without going broke. MAC face & body is super, super light. It's more like a tinted moisturiser if anything, it covers up redness and makes your skin look super healthy and glowy so I love, love it.

As I said before, I've had some problems with my skin so I needed a good concealer. I went for the MAC Select Cover-Up after going to a counter in York and being matched up and I've fallen in love. You don't need that much of it so even though the packaging is really rather small, you get your money's worth.
(before I go on, it's best to get matched up with MAC products. I have warm toned skin so I often get NW or N1 when it comes to products from there)

I used to be a huge advocate for the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer for the looooongest time. It's in my last favourites I think, and it's in my old 'What's in my make-up bag' post. While it's still a brilliant concealer, I wanted something a little more radiant for under my eyes because I'm always tired so last time I went to stock up, I went for the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' foundation that has a radiant glow and is anti-fatigue. It's also full coverage. I love it, it makes me look more awake even on those early morning starts and it makes my eyes look brighter so no need for stabbing my eyeballs with white eyeliner!

Just to mention that I changed mascaras after my benefit one ran out. I went to Twitter and asked someone to recommend a lengthening mascara and my beautiful friend Sophie (her blog is starting up soon and I'm so excited!!) told me about the L'Oreal 'Miss Manga' mascara and I absolutely love it. I went back today and bought my second tube! It's super black, volumizing, lengthening and I love the wand!
Moving swiftly on to blush. I used to use a MAC blush, then I moved onto a Rimmel blush and now I finally caved and bought a Benefit blush and oh my lanta. I ab-so-lutely LOVE it. I bought 'SugarBomb' which isn't one I've heard many people talk about before.

It's made up of four little triangles, one's an orange colour, one's a deepish reddy purple, one's a coral pink and the last is a red. It sounds horrific but once you swirl your brush in and apply it to your cheeks it gives the perfect summer glow. I've stopped using bronzer when I use this because it's just that side of glowing that you really don't need it! I'm in LOVE. It gives off a sort of orange/bronze colour which actually really suits us paler girls.

EYES WISE:
I was experimenting in early May with my Urban Decay Vice 2 palette. I've only really used the browns, light shimmery pinks and the huge mirror in this palette but I was bored and decided to play about. I can't believe I've never used these colours before, guys.

Firstly, I read somewhere the other day that people with blue eyes should mainly wear greys, browns and taupes on their eyes but hell to that!

One of my favourite looks that I created with the palette was by using two colours in particular. One is called 'STRIKE' which is  beaaaaautiful gold, sparkly colour on the inner part of my eye stretched out to the middle, and then I patted on 'POISON' which is a dark, earthy coloured green with pretty silver glitter in it and blended up and out. It looked beautiful. I added a little more of the gold on my inner corners to brighten it up a bit but I love it and I can't wait to wear it for a party or something with the green-y colour not being as harsh as a normal smokey eye with black would be!! Try it out and, if you're up for it, splurge out on the Vice 2 Palette because I am OBSESSED!

I have one favourite make-up brush this month and I literally can't live without it.

I got a brush set from ZOEVA in April (the rose gold collection) and I absolutely love it. The brush I'm most obsessed with is the 102 SILK FINISH brush. It just makes your foundation go on soooo incredibly flawless no matter what brand or coverage you use. I use it with everything from concealer to foundation to my puffy eye's cover up and, ah. I literally can't find fault with it. It cleans super easily, it dries incredibly soft and it NEVER loses its shape which used to be a problem with one of my old brushes.
The penultimate favourite is a little random for me. I was in Schue a few weeks ago and I saw some Nike Blazers on the rack and I fell in love. As soon as I tried them on, I bought them and I've been wearing them every day since. I'm not entirely sure what to say about trainers because I've never been a trainer girl but... Yes. I love them, I'm obsessed, they're super comfy and they go with everything!

Last but by no means least, I have been OBSESSED, so much so that my mum who has been a strictly dove showergel woman has started using it, with the Soap & Glory body was in LIME CRUSH. Oh holy mackerel. Just, do me a favour and go to Superdrug and smell it. If you don't buy it, just smell it. It literally smells like a lemon top from the beach. I'm convinced that you can even smell the ice cream. I can't hype it up enough. It smells delicious, the smell lasts but isn't overpowering, it leaves the bathroom smelling delicious and it's super hydrating if you have dry skin on your elbows or something. I want MORE!
So that's it! It's very chatty and no pictures but it's aaaaaall genuine. Obviously I'm not sponsored by anyone.

Thank for reading guys! Blog post next week... Mmmm... I haven't decided on what it's gonna be yet but it's gonna be good! (I hope)

Thanks for waiting for this :)

Explain-y, Explain-y

Helloooo,

Okay, I haven't posted anything in around 3 weeks and for that I deeply apologise (pls don't burn me) however I come baring excuses!

These past couple of weeks have been 'deadline week' at uni. I've had one essay to do, an article report to do that literally almost made me cry, a re-write of said essay and a blog for uni to polish up not to mention I have a presentation on the previously mentioned essay on Tuesday! phew.

The repercussions of all of my hard (or not so) work on these things has been that there's been a severe lack in blog posts. Now, I will be making up for this within the next week or so so fear not.
I've been thinking I might do a tag on here. I'm thinking the '50 random facts' tag. Yay or Nay? Well, I decide anyway so.

Oh, and I have an April favourites lined up for you AND a May favourites.

Do forgive me for the lack of writing and stick around, have a biscuit and a cuppa and keep your eyes peeled for some new, shiny blog posts!

I miss you, guys.

The Tricky Bits...

Helloooooo,

So for this week's post, I thought I'd tell you guys about something that has been bumbling about in this head of mine for a few weeks.

Today I went to a horse riding center called The Unicorn Center which is a horse riding stables that caters for disabled people. I went there because earlier last week I emailed the girl that is the director there about some volunteering work I want to do there during the summer. I used to horse ride when I was younger and recently I've been really regretting my decision to stop so off I popped for this interview to see if I would be well suited to working there (it went well for those of you that are interested!). Anyway, one of the questions that the girl that saw me asked me was what did I think were my strengths and weaknesses. Now, I know that when she asked me this, she expected me to say things like I'm a fab team player, I'm patient, kind ect or that maybe I tent to lose focus during tasks or that I might take a bit longer to pick up on a job than others, however for my weaknesses, I decided to say "I'm diabetic."

Now, I'm well aware that being diabetic isn't my fault and that it's not a weakness at all but let me explain;
When I was diagnosed with diabetes, I didn't really think much would change. I mean aside from the normal diet change, no sugar and having to inject myself with insulin every day, I didn't really think past the medical side of it. In these months leading up to summer, I have been thinking more about jobs and how I want to fill my summer up hence my going up to the stables and whenever I've had to fill out an application form, I've had to put 'type one diabetic, managed with insulin shots' in the medical part which really doesn't bother me because it's what I live with and that's just how I have to do things now but what does bother me is that right now, baring in mind that it's only three days away from my fourth month diabetes anniversary, I feel a little betrayed by it.

What I normally have to do is be conscious of what I'm eating, when I'm eating, making sure I have enough food at the appropriate times of the day otherwise it could lead to a hypo (a hypo is when your blood sugar gets really low. In my case I get sweaty and I start to shake and I get super pale, I can always feel it coming on too which normally helps me deal with it) but it dawned on me that 9 times out of 10, the other people around me won't have to be so careful. Being so conscious sometimes makes me feel fragile and silly, especially if I'm having a bad day I just want to say fuck it and do what I want.

So, when I said 'I'm diabetic' as a weakness, it really made me think of how hard things are.

Another example is being sick. At the moment I think I'm starting to get a really chesty cough which hurts and I have a stomach ache. Normal people will take a few paracetemol and they'll be fine but it affects me differently. I've had the conversation with my delightful nurses multiple times about what to do when I'm sick. Being sick affects my blood sugar massively. If I can't stomach anything, I have to drink sugary drinks in order to keep my BG (blood glucose/ blood sugar) in the normal range instead of letting it drop to a dangerous number, however I can't JUST drink it, no. I have to take tiny, weeny sips and that's it. Being sick can also make my BG go sky high in which case it's better for everyone's well being to just leave me be. When I'm high, I get super angry and frustrated and I tend to either snap or cry constantly. Doesn't it all sound like fun?

I'm not entirely sure where this post is going but I felt like I needed to make people aware of how differently I'm affected by just ordinary things. I think it stemmed from having to say, 'oh I'm diabetic so I need to be careful in the sun' or' that I need to make sure I have a proper lunch' or 'just so you know, if I feel like I'm having a hypo, I might need to just leave and sit down' and it makes me think that people will think I'm a burden or that I won't be able to do as much hard work as they can because of my stupid BG being so delicate.

It does sound heartless but I don't have as much sympathy for people with a common cold anymore because compared to me, they don't have to be as cautious or as careful.

I'm well aware that this makes me sound like a wimp or whatever but look at it from my point of view and just take a sec to to realise how different my lifestyle is to yours.

I'd also like to take a second to say please don't think that I'm a moaner. I'm not. These are genuine things that I have to take into consideration and sometimes I mull over things too much in my brain and I have to write them down. I'm doing the best I can with this whole thing and I think I'm doing pretty damn well! I'm happy, healthy and lets be honest, I have online shopping that fills a void that used to only be filled with cake.

Thanks for reading guys, I'm sorry if this made no sense, it's kind of a brain vomit version of a blog post.
Snotty hugs and kisses,
Laters,

Wedding Bells!

I went to a wedding yesterday.

It was the first wedding that I'd been to since I was like, 4? 5? That was my uncle's wedding when I was anxious to eat the wedding cake before anyone else and from what I can remember, it was beautiful. This wedding was no less beautiful.

It was my wonderful neighbours wedding that we went to, myself, my mum and dad. (if you want a run down of the make-up look I did, I'll do a blog on that next week)
It was in a beautiful, elegant room in a museum near to where we live, I'd been in the hall quite a few times when I was younger when I'd been to see my mum perform in the annual halloween murder mystery plays she used to do so I knew the place well.

It wasn't a traditional wedding in terms of you know, priest, church, an organ playing ect. This was better. Whilst we all grew anxious to see the beautiful blushing bride walk down the isle, each guest unconsciously swayed in their seats to old 50s music in the background, commenting on the bagpipes playing outside and how fortunate we'd been for the weather we had.

The room was growing with anticipation when we saw the groom in all his glory and the bride's son looking dapper. Ah, and when the bride entered, well. It was beautiful.

She came in, sashaying to 'Happy' by Pharrell with her father on her arm, in a timeless, lace dress. Oh, Carrie, you looked so happy.

The ceremony was beautiful, a wee tear did appear in my eye during her best friend's speech which was both hilariously clever and touching.

I couldn't have been happier being surrounded by the amount of happiness that was in the room and it got me to thinking about when I get married.

I don't think I'd want the traditional wedding, you know, all serious. More than anything I just want to make sure I have a man by my side that makes me as happy as my neighbours make each other. It was evident that they were perfectly suited as well as the best of friends.

I look at my parents sometimes and hope to god my marriage is like that. My dad is patient and quick witted and my mum is mental and caring. I've never seen any two people get along as much as they do. All I could ask for is that my marriage, whenever I get married, be it in my 20s or 30s or older!, is exactly like that of my parents. Perfectly imperfect.

Oh, all this talk of weddings has made me go all smooshy and gooey!
I think all that there's left to say is congratulations to my wonderful neighbours! Your big day was truly magical!

Big smooshy, gooey hugs from us Metcalfes.

Like I said earlier, my next blog will either be on the make-up look that I did for the wedding or maybe a 'What's in my bag' because I like chatty 'uns and I think you guys do too.

Thanks for reading, guys!

March Favourites!

Hey buttercups,

This is my very first favourites post, or any method of expressing my favourite things, so I haven't really got a method of how I'm gonna do this yet. For this post though, I'm going to separate things into categories. Maybe I'll switch it up, maybe it'll stay the same, I haven't decided. Like I said, I'm new to this kinda thing, I'm a favourites virgin if you will excuse the crude expression, but I'll give it a whirl!

Let's just jump right in!
Because my blog has kinda started to focus more on the make-up and beauty side of the blog spectrum, I think I'll start with that:

BEAUTY & NAILS:
I've recently gone back to using my Rimmel Match Perfection foundation (101 Classic Ivory) after using a Revlon foundation for a little while. I've had some really bad skin issues over the past month or so (I'll include my favourite face product later because lemme tell you, this thing works miracles!) and I've wanted to use a lighter foundation so to not clog my pores any more than they already were. I got this recommendation from Tanya Burr and it really is perfection! The colour matches amazingly, it's super light, it has a little bit of a dewy finish which might not work well with some oily complexions but for me, it just leaves me looking super healthy. I've recommended this to a lot of people and I couldn't hype it up enough!

Next is concealer and, lets be honest, we all know what everyone's favourite concealer is: Collection Lasting Perfection (Shade FAIR 1) What can I say? It's probably my most favourite product I've ever used. It's creamy, the coverage is fantastic be it blemishes, redness, scarring, and it never creases on my skin. I just pop it on after foundation (is that right? I don't know, it's just how I personally do it) and it blends right in and for what, £3.99, you really cannot go wrong!

My other concealer is the MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 which is a little bit more on the pricey side of things but you get what you pay for. Again, the coverage is perfect, it blends into any kind of foundation I have used, including BB Cream, and it isn't drying. It's the perfect product for a little treat for yourself and it covers any little imperfections!

Powder, I've got to say the Revlon Nearly Naked (010 Fair Clair) powder. I can wear this on it's own and it gives me amazing coverage but I tend to wear it most over the Rimmel foundation. It's not drying but it mattifies your makeup if you have an oily complexion. I use this on my T zone but I also blend it over my blush if I got a bit carried away and it smooths out the harsh lines. Perfection!

Speaking of blush, in my previous post about what is in my make-up bag, and while the blush that was in there (MAC Azalea In The Afternoon) is still a beautiful colour, I've started using an old Revlon powder blush that I found in my makeup collection. It's called Smokey Rose and it is a beautiful matte, dusky pink colour that gives you the perfect pinky hue on your little cheeks. Revlon is a great cross between high end and highstreet beauty brands and this product is no different. Colour pay off is incredible, blend-ability is on point. While I love my MAC blush, that is just a little too shimmery for the weather we're having now in the UK but it will be perfect for the summer (it saves you using a highlighter if I'm honest) whereas this Revlon blush is matte and perfect for the darker weather we're enduring at the moment.

I have been dying over my Naked 3 palette at the moment for my eyes! Oh my-lanta, is it beautiful! A cheeky splurge, yes it was. Worth every penny, hell to the yes. Rose Gold isn't everyone's cup of tea but with blue eyes especially I find it to be probably the nicest palette I own. I am going to a wedding soon and I'm just going to delve into the beautiful colours to make the perfect wedding look. My favourite colours to use have been Burnout, Dust, Limit, Buzz, Trick, Nooner and Mugshot. I don't know how anyone could possibly resist the glitter!

Obviously I paired this palette with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Original). Every beauty-guru's favourite primer, probably my favourite product in my make-up bag, it is just perfect. I have quite oily eyelids so shadow tends to crease on me if I don't use this but when I do, shadows can last through the day, night and through sleeping (oops!) and still look grand.

Mascara wise, Benefit's They're Real mascara kicks ass. It really does, it's hella expensive which is why I was kinda hesitant of buying it (I think it's £20 in boots?) but I don't regret it. It's definitely something that I'd use until it ran out, then maybe switch to a highstreet brand just to give my bank some R&R, and then go right back to it. It keeps a curl fantastically and really makes your lashes pop! My tried and true mascara has always been the maybelline the falsies mascara but now? Sorry Maybelline, there's a new sheriff in town! (mascara really but I'm trying to be punny) Yay Benefit, squee!

Okay. Just, hold me before I start and talk about lips. I've been using Baby Lips (maybelline) for about a year, maybe a little less than a year, and boy do my lips thank me! I have quite dry lips naturally, especially when the weather changes, but this has saved my life. I always use the green one, the Mint Fresh one (because I love mint) and it preps my lips gloriously before lipstick at the end of my make-up routine. After that I use my holy grail of lipsticks. I use the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in number 8. Hooooooly mackerel I have never loved a product more in my whole make-up life. Is it expensive, yes (£25 per tube) but do I care? No. It's perfect, it is my every-day lipstick and I intend to re-purchase it every time!! (I have recently found a dupe for it that comes in the form of the Revlon ColourBurst Lacqure Balm in 105 Demure which is a new product, it's fabulous and shiny and pretty, if a little bit more nude than the YSL lipstick. I think it's around £7.99 in boots)

As for nails, I've really been enjoying my new Butter London polish in the shade Tea With The Queen. It's a beautiful, orange-y nude that stays shiny and glossy for as long as you keep it on, it lasts a long time which is all you can really hope for in a polish! (I think Tanya Burr has a similar coloured polish in her new make-up line, I'm not too sure of the name but I know that Niomi Smart (her chanel and blog name is LadySmart I think) has it on in her new March favourites video so go look there to find out the name) It's a little pricey, £12.99 I think, but it's a lovely, lovely brand, one that hasn't failed me yet. Another I have been using on my ring fingers as an accent nail over the top of this has been the Essie top coat in As Gold As It Gets. It's shiny, pretty, and chip-proof! Beautiful, elegant combination!

SKIN CARE:
Finding something that will work with my skin has been a massive priority in the month of March. I had a stressful time at uni with deadlines and my skin reacted terribly. I had huge blemishes on my cheek and chin that made me miserable and horribly insecure. So off myself and mother went to Boots to find a cure. I stumbled across this Garnier Pure Active Intensive Exfobrusher Spot Fighter for anti-shine, anti-spots and anti-marks. It's specifically for oily to spot prone skin and it really works. What you do it there is sort of an exfoliation brush at the top of the bottle that you wet, squeeze product out and exfoliate your skin with. It might seem a little harsh at first and leave your skin a little red but that goes down within minutes. I used this every morning and night when my skin was at its worse and it started working straight away, now my skin has pretty much completely cleared (I hope I didn't jinx it!!!) so now I use it every morning as a face scrub. It's gentle enough to use every day which I love because I like my skin care routines to be consistent :) love, love, love and would recommend as highly as I can!

I changed up my moisturisers once again because I'm obsessed with moisturisers and I think I've found the one, guys. Shout out to momma who persuaded me to get it! Okay, these are both from Nivea. I've been using the Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising day cream for dry & sensitive skin (as you guys already know, my skin is super dry after showers and after I've taken my make-up off) and I've also used the Regenerating Night Cream. Both of which, I am in looooooove with! My skin has never felt so soft or well looked after. Love, love, love once again! (they're the perfect combination, too. Not greasy or sticky at all)

SHOWER:
I have been using the Herbal Essences 'Tousle Me Softly' shampoo every day. It says that it has wild violet extract and is for naturally wavy hair. Now, I do actually have naturally wavy hair. Or poofy hair. Never the less! this shampoo is amazing. It smells amazing, it's PURPLE for goodness sake, and my goodness does it do its job. I'm in love. I still love my Toni & Guy shampoo and conditioner but sometimes I wanna smell like something other than herbs! Mmmm. It smells delicious. I've always loved Herbal Essences. Good job, herbal essences.

As for body wash, I went into boots today and picked up  the Original Source Mint and Tea Tree shower gel after I saw youtuber AndreasChoice talk about a mint and tea tree shampoo she used and loved. I love anything tea tree and anything mint so naturally I adore it. I've used it before and let me tell you, it just makes you feel so clean and fresh! It smells delicious, ugh, it's just a fantastic product that I forgot I loved so much!

Now for the fun things:

SHOES:
Ugh, okay, can we just talk about these boots I bought from Boo Hoo last month? I swear, I'm trying to be Detective Kate Beckett from Castle. These boots!! Okay, so they're an ankle boot, obviously, laces and a zip up the size, black, about a 3 maybe 4 inch heel and a nice grip on the bottom. Holy hell am I obsessed with these! Now I'm tall, I'm 6ft and I could never wear heels before but these? These are a god send! I got 'em in a size 8 because I'm big foot and they're from the brand Koi Couture from within Boo Hoo. I'm literally so obsessed. In LOVE! (and they're unreal quality, too. Definitely a staple piece in my wardrobe) I've been wearing these with floral dresses and tights to give it a slightly edgier look, with black leggings for a slightly more than casual look. They're just so versatile. *Smiles sweetly* thank you, boo hoo.
ALMOST DONE! Okay (I hope you're all still with me!)

CLOTHING:
Boo Hoo now has a plus size range that I love and am totally obsessed with, in fact I have a bunch of stuff from there that are swiftly becoming my favourite clothing items. Especially this jacket. Oh my-lanta. I'm actually wearing this jacket to a wedding next week as a blazer because it goes perfectly with my dress.
It is from the brand Pink Clove within Boo Hoo, mine is in a size 18, and oh it is just beautiful. It's called a metallic jacket which I didn't see until I wore it outside once but it made me love it even more! It is a sort of off white colour, black rimmed on the collar, sleeve cuffs and tiny little fake pockets. The best part? There is sparkly gold thread threaded into the white. Ohhhhh it is so beautiful! It's jersey material too which you guys know I'm a huge fan of. It fits perfectly, sort of tailored like a blazer so it shows off your natural assets (the ones you wanna show!) and because it is white, it goes it probably everything. You can dress it down it jeans or dress it up with a dress like I will be doing. 100% in love. I want more!

ACCESSORIES
I am, admittedly, not a mahoosive accessories person. I much prefer a good jacket or pair of shoes to dress an outfit up, nor am I much of a sunglasses person. I popped into a shoe shop during last month, you know, those 2 days we had some kind of sunshine, and I saw these sunglasses. they are a nude-y pinkish colour, the style of them is very Marylin Monroe, cat-flick esque, oh I love them. I find this style of glasses really suits those of us with a rounder face, like yours truly. Perfect, beautiful, MM! Love. I have been converted!

SCENT:
An old favourite, Britney Spears 'Fantasy' has made a re-appearance in my life recently. I bought this a few months ago, maybe just before Christmas, because the scent that is 'my smell' as my boyfriend so lovely puts it, has always been the Britney Spears 'Curious'. I wanted to venture out of my comfort zone and buy more! I love it, it's sweet, fruity, delicious and everyone loves it on me. Obviously, scents smell differently on different people so don't go buying it just based on my judgement. It smells sweet on me but it might smell poopy on someone else!

RANDOM:
Random things now! A movie! The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. It's amazing, I've read all five (or six I can't remember) of the books and I fell in love, I saw the film and now I want to marry Jamie Campbell Bower and it is still my all time favourite movie since it came out! would highly recommend. (READ THE BOOKS FIRST)

Uh, Music! I've been really into American Authors this month, their new album What A Life came out a few weeks ago and it's been on repeat since! Love! I think that 'Love' and 'Best Day Of My Life' are the best summer songs!

Tv Shows have consisted of Breaking Amish, Dance Moms and Castle. None of that has changed! I still want to adopt Maddie and I still want to squish Beckett and Castle!! (yay for being my number 1 tv show couple!) A new obsession has to be Believe because holy crap, is that show good! It's super funny which I didn't expect but now I'm anxiously awaiting finishing this blog post so I can go and watch the new episode that's been on record!!

AND I AM DONE!

Wow. This was longer than I expected. Youtubers make it seem so easy! but I suppose I'm typing and they're just talkin'.

Okay, great! I think this was a success! I hope you made it to the end, and if you did, biiiiiig squishes and kisses for you!

Thanks for reading, cuties, I'll include pictures either later tonight or tomorrow :)
Laters,
Kate xx

Simply Be!

Recently I popped into my local Simply Be store with my mum after not being there since January and the new spring stock had arrived which made me super excited! I'd almost forgot how much I loved Simply Be. Obviously, I am not a size 10, and I probably never will be but I'm fine with that thanks to stores like Simply Be, New Look, H&M and ASOS. These stores all cater to bigger sizes making shopping for any sort of clothing really easy for us slightly curvier ladies.

I've bought around 7 or 8 pieces from Simply Be since I discovered it and I've never been let down. Every piece I have purchased has been amazing quality and I was glad to find somewhere that stocked bigger clothing sizes but didn't let it compromise the styles or not stock the things that are on trend. A lot of the time I find stores to make bigger sizes either lower quality or just have the same things in all the time, like they can't be bothered to update their clothes. I've never fully understood why I can go into a store looking for a nice summer dress to wear with tights and see lovely, pretty, feminine dresses in sizes that are too small for me and then go into the bigger sizes and find the same stuff I've seen in winter!
Thankfully, Simply Be isn't like that. Their clothes get updated every season AND, the most important part, for me at least, they don't make us feel singled out by only stocking plain things or more mature patterns. Like I said, their clothes at the moment are their Spring range and as soon as I walked in I found at least 4 things I wanted to buy there and then. They stocked mint, pinks, oranges, purples, blues, whites! I literally wanted everything.

I think the best thing about Simply Be is that they don't just cater to bigger sizes, they stock size 12 as well as going up to size 32, so every size and shape get the same items of clothing as each other. I tried on a pair of loose fitting trousers with white skull and cross bones on them and instantly fell in love. When I came out the woman that worked in the dressing room showered me with compliments, but they were sincere, we could tell because the conversation didn't end at me saying, "I'll take them!", we chatted on for a good 10 minutes about Sherlock! I've never encountered such amazing staff OR just beautiful dressing rooms and I hope they are some of the things that all Simply Be stores pride themselves on. No-one in that store is prejudice against anyone of any size and they make you feel incredibly relaxed. Before this, you would sooner catch me eating Coconut than trying something on in a store before I bought it but in Simply Be I didn't even think about it, it's such a relaxed atmosphere.

As for pricing of things, yes, some items are a little steep, but you know, you're paying for quality, something that will last you for ages even after wearing them all day every day. I 100% think it's worth it.
I literally couldn't glorify Simply Be enough, I really couldn't. I love everything about it. If I can find the stuff that I've got from them, I'll link it below so y'all can check it out. I'm not being sponsored by Simply Be at all (I wish!) but I do mean everything I've said. It's probably the best high street store I've ever shopped at... And I've shopped at a lot!

Thanks for being amazing, Simply Be! I'll be back in your stores soon enough!
Thanks for reading guys,
Kate x

^ these are probably my most favourite item of clothing at the moment!
